10 Albums I can listen to from beginning to end, anytime.

16 Jun

These are not necessarily my “ten favorite albums of all time.”  Such a statement (in my case at least) could never be made, because it would be different on any given day.  It is also not necessarily the ONLY ten albums I can listen to from beginning to end, nor are they necessarily the ten albums I would for sure choose if  for some bizarre reason I suddenly had to spend the rest of my life on a desert island with nothing else to listen to.

What I am listing here, is simply this:  Ten albums that I can listen to from beginning to end.  I like every song on them.  There isn’t really a whole lot to this post.  If any discussion on the individual albums takes place, it will do so in the comment section, which I greatly encourage.  This is my attempt at beginning an ongoing discussion, about music.  I would love to hear some opinions.  (Even if they are wrong.)

Do you hate these albums?  Do you love these albums?  Have you ever heard of these albums? What are some albums you can listen to from beginning to end?  Do you even like music, or do you listen to nothing but Justin Bieber?  (If the latter is the case, please don’t read my blog anymore.)

I agree with a few of those on your list. Some I haven’t heard all of. I have a few albums that I feel that way about which aren’t on your list; Snake River Conspiracy – Sonic Jihad, Nine Inch Nails – The Downward Spiral, Beastie Boys – Paul’s Boutique… I’m sure there’s more, but those are from the top of my head.

I like Nine Inch Nails but they’re really hit or miss with me. I find I usually get bored trying to listen to an entire NIN album. Paul’s Boutique is actually my favorite Beastie Boys album. In fact I could sit and listen to their entire discography from beginning to end. In FACT: I did that not too long ago, right after finishing that Beasties biography you lent me! (Except for the latest album, which I did not yet own.)

Oh look, here’s a list of what these albums are, starting from top to bottom.

    T.Rex, Electric Warrior,
    Alice In Chains, Dirt
    Beatles, Abbey Road
Devo, Are We Not Men? We Are Devo
    Rolling Stones, Some Girls
Dead Milkmen, Big Lizard In My Backyard
    Beastie Boys, Licensed to Ill
    Pixies, Doolittle
    Pink Floyd, Animals
    Ween, God Ween Satan

I didn’t put them in any particular order, and there’s no significance to the fact that some of the images are bigger than the others.

(Truth be told this was just kind of a lazy post.)

I luv that Dead Milkmen one, haven’t listened to it in ages, probably because I have it on cassette. And I would put Ween’s Country Gold on instead… Two that come to mind for me are The Clash’s London Calling and Kanye West’s Late Registration.

London Calling is great! That one and The Clash (as in their first album) I can easily listen to all the way through any time. I have the Ween country album, (cause I have to have everything) but man, I just couldn’t get into it. I’ll have to give it another try one of these days.

Actually, can listen to all clash albums all the way thru EXCEPT the 3rd LP of Sandanista and Cut the Crap.

Well, I can listen to Bang A Gong from beginning to end. I think. : )
